Lately we’ve been getting a lot of flack at the reference and circulation desks about our new Mason Money Machine and its consistent out-of-order status. I think we’ve determined that it’s probably been broken more days than it has been functioning, since we first got it about a month ago (see this post.) We’ve been able to direct patrons to the only other Mason Money Machine on campus (in the Law Library) and to Mason Money Online, in which funds can be added online with a credit card, but the machine itself has proven to be a lemon. The folks at the Mason Money office say that a completely new machine will replace the defunct one, but we’re not sure when. Sooner rather than later, is what we hope. Again, we are sorry for the inconvenience and look forward to the new machine and the removal of that cumbersome out of order sign. Until then, your best bet is to make sure that your card is pre-loaded with money before you go to print something, in order to avoid any unpleasant surprises.

What can be said about technology? I hope it is fixed soon.
